Dear Customer,
Our long rich company history began in
1875 with Simon Scholten |
Who started a company
with vegetables........
He was succeeded by his son Dirk Scholten, who took over the company in 1920.He grew vegetables as well as flower bulbs (tulips).
His son Jan Scholten replaced him in 1947. He also grew vegetables and flower bulbs (tulips).
| |
In 1964 Jan’s son Theo joined the company. They continued to grow vegetables and flower bulbs (tulips)
In 1989 the structure of the company dramatically changed.
Jan Scholten left the company and Jeremy Scholten and Tini Keeman joined.
(Jeremy & Joshua are the sons of Theo Scholten & Tini Keeman.) That very year the company abandoned the growth of flower bulbs (tulips, irises and peonies)
In 1995 Joshua Scholten joined the firm.
In 1999 the company stopped with growing irises.
In 2001 the company made their new marketing-name & logo "Paionia".
In 2002 the company opened their online shop with Peonies & Buxus.
In 2003 Joshua Scholten started with breeding peonies.
In 2004 the company started to export peonies from the Netherlands all over Europe, America and Asia.
In 2005 Tini Scholten - Keeman died on 24
march by the terrible disease gal-cancer.
In 2006 we stopped with forcing tulips in
wintertime. The company is now completely specialized on
Peonies. |
In 2008 we renovated
the company with new cooling cells and made a display garden in
our greenhouse with up to 400m2 with Paionia's newest peony
varieties. |
